Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Judith’s team and work in a varied and fast-paced political environment. Judith has a busy role in Parliament, alongside representing her constituents, she is also a Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with Judith and will play a key role in managing her time effectively, helping to coordinate her responsibilities across different teams in Parliament and supporting her in balancing a demanding and high-profile workload with professionalism and good judgement.

Judith is seeking a dynamic individual who can both enhance her public profile by effectively communicating her work to the people of Bradford South and be able to work effectively with relevant House of Commons teams and clerks to support Judith’s responsibilities in Parliament.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Parliament, possess strong video editing skills, a keen understanding of digital media trends and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key media figures and other stakeholders. The team will be looking for strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a candidate with the ability to manage and support Judith’s exceptionally busy schedule.

Key responsibilities:

  • Diary management
  • Providing administrative support and briefings 
  • Attend and participate in meetings as appropriate
  • Assist with writing external communications for Judith, including speeches and press releases
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders 
  • Media monitoring: local and national and briefing Judith on relevant issues
  • Researching local, regional or national issues to support Judith's work
  • Create and deliver strategies around Judith's social media and online presence, undertake regular reviews to enhance engagement
  • Produce engaging and creative online graphics and short videos, publicising Judith's work; tailoring content according to each platform
  • Undertake complex casework as required

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an MP's office, political environment or similar
  • Excellent political judgement, with the ability to think and plan strategically
  • Experience producing graphics and videos
  • Professional experience of managing social media profiles
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g. Wix)
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail
  • A team player with a positive attitude, self-motivating, organised, and adaptable
  • Some out of hours working will be required
  • Occasional travel to the constituency will be required
  • Share the aims, values, and objectives of the Labour Party
