Alison Hume MP is looking to recruit a Constituency Support Officer, to be based in Scarborough, who shares her passion and drive to make a real difference to the constituency of Scarborough & Whitby.
The successful candidate will support Alison’s plan to deliver tangible improvements to Scarborough and Whitby and will be involved in all areas of Alison's work, with opportunities to contribute and work collaboratively across the team.
This role will be a strong lead on developing campaign strategy, co-ordinating and excelling at delivering Alison’s priority campaigns and constituency projects.
You will need to be confident engaging with constituents and building relationships with local stakeholders, community organisations, groups and businesses. Also arranging local meetings, surgeries, and events. Experience in providing communications support is essential, including producing engaging social media.
You will accompany Alison on constituency visits; providing professional support and follow-up actions as needed.
You should have strong written and verbal communication skills and be calm under pressure. A background in project management is desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Developing strategy, co-ordinating and delivering Alison’s priority campaigns and constituency projects.
- Working across the team to identify, plan and deliver local campaigns
- Liaising with local businesses, stakeholders and community organisations and maintaining ongoing positive relationships to assist with resolving constituency matters
- Meticulous management of Alison’s constituency diary
- Accompanying Alison on constituency visits, providing professional support, taking photos /video and following up on identified actions
- Supporting the Senior Communications Officer to develop Alison’s social media presence, ensuring an impactful external communications presence
- Drafting responses to constituents’ emails and letters, including on policy issues.
- Meeting regularly with constituents in person
Requirements:
- Project management/Campaign experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience creating engaging digital content across a variety of platforms
- Well organised with an ability to assess and analyse information quickly and accurately
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office packages
