Location: Littlehampton (preferred), Westminster, or remote considered
Salary: £23,810 – £41,782 pro rata (dependent on experience, in line with IPSA pay scales)
Hours: 20 hours per week, spread across 5 days (part-time)
Contract: Initial 6 month fixed term contract

Alison Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, is recruiting a Communications Officer to join her team. This role is ideally based in her Littlehampton office, though applications from candidates wishing to work in Westminster or remotely will also be considered. Alison is also open to applications from agencies or freelancers interested in delivering communications support.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping Alison communicate with constituents across a wide range of platforms. This role is part-time (20 hours per week across 5 days) and initially for a fixed term of 6 months. For the right candidate Alison is willing to offer a starting salary at the top of the pay band or consider a Senior Communications Officer title.
Key Responsibilities

Draft and manage content for social media channels, website updates, newsletters, and press releases

Produce engaging graphics, video clips, and other digital content to increase visibility and impact

Monitor media coverage and political developments relevant to the constituency and Alison’s campaigns

Respond to media enquiries and build strong relationships with local press and community media outlets

Support Alison with articles and op-eds where required

Plan and deliver communications strategies to promote Alison’s work locally and in Parliament

Analyse reach and engagement across communications channels and suggest improvements
Essential Skills and Experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, engaging copy tailored to different audiences

Confidence using social media platforms and creating content (graphics, video, photography)

Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines

Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Political awareness and understanding of the role of an MP
Desirable

Experience in a communications, journalism, or public affairs role

Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, or similar)

Understanding of the political and media landscape in coastal West Sussex
