Job Details

Do you care about helping people, supporting our communities, and making a difference? Then this might be the role for you! Alicia Kearns MP is seeking a highly organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual to join her constituency team and play a central role in supporting her day-to-day work across Rutland and Stamford.

This is a varied and fast-paced role at the heart of the office. You will help ensure the smooth running of Alicia’s constituency activity, working closely with her and the wider team to support residents, manage priorities and deliver for local communities.

We are open to candidates at different stages of their career. This role could suit someone experienced who is ready to take on significant responsibility from day one, or someone earlier in their career with the drive and potential to develop into the role and build a long-term career with us.

For a more experienced candidate, the role will involve taking ownership of inbox triage, diary management and supporting Alicia directly at meetings and visits as well as taking on some cases supporting local residents. For a more junior candidate, there will be opportunities to develop these skills over time, to become skilled in casework (supporting constituents locally), and wider office activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and manage the inbox, identifying priorities and ensuring timely responses
  • Support or lead part-time diary management, including arranging meetings, visits and engagements
  • Accompany Alicia to constituency visits and events, including driving where required
  • Assist with constituency casework and ensure activities are actioned and followed through
  • Support the delivery of local campaigns, engagement activity and projects
  • Liaise with local stakeholders, organisations and community groups
  • Provide administrative and organisational support to ensure the office runs efficiently
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver high-quality support to constituents

The Ideal Candidate

You will be someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys problem-solving and is motivated by delivering for local communities. This is a fast-paced role. We are looking for:

  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands – be someone who keeps on top of your workload and manages it
  • Ideas-driven, with the ability to come up with new ideas, and see them through
  • Resilient, and also empathetic, so you can support residents with complex and emotionally difficult situations in a confidential and kind manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (high attention to detail required)
  • The ability to engage with senior stakeholders in a professional way, representing Alicia and her Office
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small team – must care about being a supportive member of the team
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • A strong understanding of, or interest in, local issues in Rutland and Stamford

For more experienced candidates:

  • Experience of working in a parliamentary, political or similar fast-paced environment
  • Confidence managing competing priorities and supporting senior stakeholders
  • Experience managing very heavy-demand inboxes

For more junior candidates:

  • A willingness to learn quickly and take on responsibility
  • An interest in public service, politics or community engagement

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence, with appropriate business insurance cover, is essential

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Closing Date: 30th April 2026

Interview Dates: Interviews to take place in mid May
