Salary:  £23,810 - £26,500 (depending on experience)
Length of Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 (applications for reduced hours will be considered; minimum of 30 hours per week)

Judith Cummins, the Member of Parliament for Bradford South, is looking for a Caseworker to join her busy constituency-based team. Caseworkers play an important role in an MP’s office, supporting the MP to ensure that constituents concerns are heard and actioned.
 
The ideal candidate will be well-organised, upbeat and friendly, with a genuine desire to help people in Judith’s constituency. They will possess excellent communication and administration skills, and a can-do attitude, that is suited to working in a busy political environment.
 
Additionally, they should possess previous experience of managing a caseload and liaising with external stakeholders.   Commitment to the values and aims of the Labour Party is essential. This is an office-based job in Bradford.
 

Key duties will include:

  • Managing and progressing a portfolio of casework.
  • Dealing with correspondence, telephone enquiries and emails, providing timely responses.
  • Researching and acting upon relevant information to progress and resolve constituent's cases effectively and appropriately.
  • Liaising with local and national government agencies, voluntary sector and other third parties to resolve constituency matters.
  • Ensuring information is entered, progressed and maintained within the Caseworker database system.
  • Ensuring that all information is treated in a sensitive and confidential manner and in accordance with GDPR.
  • Organising and participating in MP surgeries and community engagement events with constituents and stakeholders
  • Providing briefings for Judith

Requirements:

  • Experience of casework, a public-facing role or working directly with the public
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence in interacting with, and advocating on behalf of, a wide range of people
  • Clear and concise letter writing style
  • Good attention to detail and ability to prioritise workloads, sometimes under pressure
  • Good IT skills, including experience with MS Office applications.
  • Experience working with confidential information and demonstrating a reasonable understanding of GDPR
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, while also working effectively as part of a small team
  • Experience of maintaining comprehensive and accurate case records.
  • Sympathetic to the ideals of the Labour Party 
  • Holding a driving licence and having access to their own vehicle would be desirable
