Alison Griffiths MP is seeking a motivated and community-focused Constituency Assistant to support her work on behalf of residents in Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, and surrounding villages.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage in their public-service career who wants hands-on experience at the heart of constituency work. You will work closely with the MP and her team, gaining first-hand exposure to how an MP supports residents, engages with local organisations, and delivers for the community.

No two days are the same. One day you might be helping prepare for a local visit or event; the next, speaking with residents, liaising with stakeholders, or helping to deliver a constituency project from initial idea through to completion. This role will suit someone who is enthusiastic, practical, and keen to get properly stuck in — not just generating ideas, but taking responsibility for seeing them through.

You’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work, supported to develop new skills, and encouraged to play an active role in shaping how the constituency office engages with the community it serves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending constituency meetings and supporting the MP on visits, including follow-up actions.
  • Supporting the smooth running of constituency events, meetings, and surgeries.
  • Supporting office communications, including stakeholder engagement and drafting newsletters or updates.
  • Deliver Constituency Engagement projects.
  • Engage with local residents, organisations, and stakeholders professionally and effectively
  • Respond to enquiries with sensitivity, confidentiality, and integrity
  • Attend local events and meetings as required; some evening and weekend work may be required with flexibility available during the week
  • Assist with research on local and national issues.
  • Assist with office admin and support.

Requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload under pressure.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Political awareness and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Desirable
  • Experience of project management, campaigns, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of the constituency and local issues.

 Benefits:

  • Competitive salary within IPSA pay scales
  • Generous employer contribution pension scheme
  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  • Access to training and professional development opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Programme
