Julia Lopez MP is looking to recruit a Communications and Campaigns Manager to join her Westminster-based team. The successful applicant will need to be able to undertake media and press activities, design and create content for social media, as well as assist with wider communications activities such as newsletter creation, community engagement and website management. They will also support Julia in progressing campaigns on behalf of the constituents of Hornchurch & Upminster and assist the team to undertake casework, spotting trends and topics of interest.

The applicant should be highly organised, a strong communicator and be able to use their own initiative to start new, and add to, existing projects. They should have experience in social media, communications, graphic production, photography and video editing. Julia welcomes experienced candidates with enthusiasm, ideas and the drive and determination to maximise opportunities within Parliament and the constituency.

The role is based in Westminster with travel to the constituency as required.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Drafting correspondence on various issues on the Member’s behalf.
  • Logging cases, monitoring progress, and ensuring data is held and processed securely.
  • Ensuring that casework is dealt with sensitively, confidentially and accurately.
  • Providing advice and support to constituents by liaising with Government agencies, local government departments, the voluntary sector and any other organisations necessary to resolve casework matters
  • Researching local, regional and national issues to support the MP’s work
  • Drafting press and social media posts and supporting wider communications objectives via the website, mass mailing, newsletters and social media
  • Monitoring media coverage and social media channels and preparing media briefings
  • Creating communication plans to accompany campaigns and events
  • Assist with arranging and attending events as required
  • Horizon scan to identify opportunities to pursue topics of local importance and to progress priority campaigns

Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in helping constituents and supporting the work of an MP
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail, and an ability to communicate clearly and creatively
  • Experience managing social media and producing engaging content and graphics
  • Able to prioritise a demanding workload, with an eye for detail
  • An interest in current affairs and sympathy with the aims and values of the Conservative Party

You must have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years out of the last 5 years, and able to supply proof of your right to work in the UK.
