Contract: Full time preferred (part-time considered), initial 6 months with possible extension

Alison Griffiths, MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, is offering an exciting internship opportunity for a recent graduate or someone looking to take their first steps into a political or parliamentary career.

 

This is a chance to gain hands-on experience in a busy MP’s office and to work closely with Alison and her team as they support and represent local constituents. The right candidate will be politically aware, methodical, and highly motivated. Full training and supervision will be provided.

 

The work is highly varied – from supporting parliamentary and constituency projects, to engaging with local people, to researching key policy issues. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is ready to contribute wherever needed and take responsibility for their own workload.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft responses to policy casework from constituents
  • Research national and local issues to support Alison’s work in Parliament and the constituency
  • Assist with constituency engagement projects and events
  • Accompany Alison to meetings in Westminster and the constituency
  • Contribute to Alison’s communications activity, including drafting press releases, preparing social media content, and supporting with graphics and newsletters
  • Provide general support across the team as required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences
  • Ability to deal with constituents and stakeholders in a compassionate and professional manner
  • An interest in political communications and digital media, with a willingness to learn new tools and approaches
  • Creative instincts and an eye for detail when drafting content for public use
  • Flexible, organised, and able to manage a dynamic workload
  • A team player who can also work independently
  • Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party

 

Additional Information

  • This role is primarily based in Westminster, with some paid travel to the constituency.
  • Occasional weekend work may be required (with time off in lieu).
  • Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by Parliament's Security and Vetting team. This includes a Right to Work check. A contract will not be offered until clearance has been approved.
