Job Title: Administrative Officer

Working For: Alicia Kearns MP (Rutland and Stamford)

Location: Constituency Office (Oakham)

Salary: Inline with IPSA payscales, expected to start at £25,528

Length of Contract: Fixed Term until April 2027, with potential for extension

Start Date: ASAP dependent on security clearance/notice periods

Alicia Kearns MP and her team are seeking a highly organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual to join her constituency team. This is a varied and fast-paced role requiring self-discipline, attention to detail, and excellence at administrative work.  

This role will suit someone who recognises that keeping on top of admin allows an office to thrive, and will get their head down and power through it. Confidentiality in handling sensitive concerns from residents is fundamental.

The successful applicant will also develop skills in supporting local residents through casework and on policy issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and manage an inbox, identifying priorities and ensuring timely responses
  • Lead on administrative and organisational support to the team and office
  • Assist with constituency casework and ensure activities are actioned
  • Support on arranging meetings, visits and engagements when asked
  • Support the delivery of local campaigns, engagement activity and projects
  • Liaise with local stakeholders, organisations and community groups
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver high-quality support to local residents

  • You will be someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys problem-solving and is motivated by delivering for local communities. We are looking for:
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands – be someone who keeps on top of your workload and manages it
  • Resilient, and also empathetic, so you can support residents with complex and emotionally difficult situations in a confidential and kind manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (high attention to detail required)
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to get stuck in
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small team – must care about being a supportive member of the team
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
